I love pinewood derby.....no, not the whining and whimpering over the rules, or the "oh we didn't have the tools to do the car even though you gave us 6 weeks and multiple offers to use someone else's tools so we are just racing a block", or the griping that goes on when a dad has to shave off a little weight..say 5 ounces or so because he clearly disregarded the written rules. No..I don't like that part. The part I love is this:
The anticipation....
The clapping and cheering at the finish line.....
And maybe some good-natured jeering.....
And some grinning and gigglin.....
Silly play-acting.....
Super exciting finishes.....
And some sky high jumping winners,,,,,
That's the pinewood derby!!!!
